"The Only Thing More Powerful than Hate is Love."

Estephany Tellez:

The Superbowl: Patriot's vs Seahawks or the Bad Bunny Bowl?

Many people were either watching the game or only Bad Bunny. As many expressed, some loved the Bad Bunny half time show representing a strong political view without physically mentioning politics and some turned it off and went to go watch the Turning Point USA half time show with the artist Kid Rock.

Many celebrities expressed that he did a great job. For example, like Adam Sandler “Benito was unbelievable, loose, happy, made me and everybody ecstatic. I loved it and congrats to the Bunny. He’s a great human being”.

Marc Anthony expressed “I loved it. It’s the first time I ever clapped at a television. Bad Bunny did his thing, in his moment, you have to put yourself in his position, he put in a lot of pressure and received a lot of pressure for no reason, but he celebrated his culture. It wasn’t about him and what rock star he is. It was about celebrating culture…. You don’t have to understand the language it's about what he emits and emotes."

PCCC has a large Latin American population. Many felt empowered watching Bad Bunny, a minority, be in the Superbowl.

Samantha, a criminal justice major said, “I didn’t really watch the halftime show but it did feel a little awkward because many didn’t like the idea of it because it's not an English artist, but I did very much like the fact Bad bunny gave the grammy award to the little boy.”

Yari a nursing student said, “It was very impactful like Kendricks Superbowl Halftime Show, with a strong message and the fact the everyone was included was the highlight of the show.”

Although many people watched the Superbowl and loved it, many also hated it.

Yuleymy Vazquez:

Ever since people found out that Bad Bunny would be the halftime performer, they weren’t happy. Some of them would make bad comments towards Bad Bunny, while others were excited that he would be part of it.

On February 8th, 2026, it’s an important day for people who are fans of the Patriots or Seahawks, while others just want to see Bad Bunny. The Halftime show demonstrated many Latin American's everyday lives, how everyone is a hard worker and how family is the most important thing.

One of the power symbols that was shown was Bad Bunny giving a young boy his Grammy. It represented him passing the torch to future generations.

In the final part of his performance, Bad Bunny mentioned, “Argentina, Uruguay, Peru, Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.” Which shows how all of these countries make up America.

Everyone paid attention to the Super Bowl. Some people weren’t happy and began to say that Bad Bunny - Benito is not U.S Citizen. However, Puerto Rico has been part of the United States since 1898.

 Daniel Ramos:

To gain a little more insight on how the Super Bowl performed among viewers, I also interviewed Yatzil Jimenez Michaca, a sociology major, who shared her reflections on Bad Bunny’s appearance.

Jimenez Michaca expressed that the performance stood out because the songs Bad Bunny chose did a good job to represent his culture. Toward the end of the show, she felt the music highlighted what it means to be Latino in the United States.

What most stood out to her was when Bad Bunny brought together both young and older generations on stage, which she said was “a powerful symbol of unity.” and According to Jimenez Michaca, “This moment challenged ideas of superiority and reinforced the message that people are not as different as a lot of people may just believe.”

She also stated that Bad Bunny could have expanded the cultural impact even more by bringing out a Puerto Rican artist or another Latino performer to share the stage with him.

Overall, the Super Bowl performance sparked a lot of meaningful conversations about culture and identity and representation. While some viewers focused on the entertainment aspect of the show, many people recognized the deeper message behind the music and visuals. Bad Bunny’s performance highlighted Latino culture on one of the world’s biggest stages ever and reminded audiences that diversity deserves a lot more of recognition and respect.

Although there is always room for improvement, the performance succeeded in bringing attention to cultural unity and representation and making it a memorable moment in all of Super Bowl history.
