The gym was alive with energy as students and staff faced off in a competitive volleyball
matchup. With about ten players on each side and a referee present, this was no casual game.
There were official rules in place, with a best-of-three format to 21. From the first serve, both teams were locked in and ready to compete.
The students set the tone early in the first game, battling the staff in a nail-biter that went
all the way to deuce before securing the win. The second game was just as intense, with neither side able to pull away. The score moved point for point: 13-13, 13-14, 14-14, showing how evenly matched the teams were. Still, when it counted, the students held their composure and closed it out, officially taking the victory.
After winning the first two sets, no one was ready to walk away. A third game to 15 was
played, where the staff managed to respond and take the final set. However, the students had already claimed the night.
Throughout the game, players rotated positions and stepped up in different roles. From strong serves to clean sets, everyone contributed and had a blast in the gym.
The imperfect moments, like a serve hitting the ceiling, added to the intensity and fun of the
experience.
Special recognition goes to Gina, SGA Advisor, for providing the green and white shirts
that quickly became a standout part of the event. Not only did they clearly separate the teams, but they were in such high demand that players from both sides wanted to trade and take extras home.
As someone who participated in the game, I can confidently say that the students came
prepared and delivered. The competition was real, the energy was high, and the result spoke for itself.
Moments like this show how memorable it can be when students and staff connect, with some bragging rights to take home. Keep an eye out for next year, as we hope to keep the student vs. staff competition alive.
