Return of the City Mall Movie Theater

You may have heard about the Fabian 8 Cinema in the City Mall at Paterson, New Jersey, which was suddenly closed last year. The impact of the theater's permanent closure surprised the community in Paterson. To view the latest films outside the city, where the prices are slightly higher than at the former Fabian 8 Cinema closed.


There is good news for the City Mall theater! Around July 16th, 2025, the announcement of the reopening of the City Mall theater under new management, as well as a brand new name, Box Office Cinema, from an independent owner named James Kula, provides fresh changes towards the new cinema to attract people to the City Mall.

Bringing to the cinema brand new TVs and posters that are digital, along with brand new wall prints and carpets. The cinema expanded the concession stand to meet increased customer demand. And updating their seats with additional recliners adds to the enjoyment of moviegoers, as the cinema enhances its sound system, providing deep, clear audio.

According to an article written by journalist Gabriella Dragone from the online news website called TAPinto mentioned in TAPinto, “Kula said it was Sayegh’s advocacy that sparked his interest in reviving the theater” (TAPinto 2). The new owner, inspired by Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh's determination to bring back Paterson’s own movie theater for the community. Ensuring the movie theater is beneficial for the community would have a positive effect on the City of Paterson.

As this new transformation of the City mall theater would provide, the increased demand from current stores held in the mall establishment. Customers from all age groups are ensuring to become involved with future events or activities provided by the mall. Currently, the theater is in the middle of construction, and surely the theater will be up and running on the reopening day. And students of PCCC would be able to attend the local cinema without spending a large amount of money on different theaters, which causes further financial strains on PCCC students. The new theater will be beneficial to the community and PCCC students attending the main campus.
