Monster Mash 2025

I am Christopher Colon, a senator of SGA, and I had the pleasure of spending some quality

time with the student body in the Panthers’ Den. On the Paterson campus, PCCC held a

staple event to reel in some of those Halloween spirits.

Held during the final week of October, the Monster Mash event was a returning theme from last year that remains highly successful. Classic Halloween music filled the background air.

Organized by SGA, the period included an escape room, game stations, giveaways, food, and a costume contest. The escape room was the highlight of the event, as it involved a team of students having to solve riddles and work cohesively. Each team was given a period to best the witch and her tricks. Out of the eight teams that tried, two were successful! I did not beat the entire thing, but the activity was engaging and fun.

The den was wonderfully filled with "aha’s” and excitement. The gaming stations included ladder ball, ring toss, and darts. This was a great opportunity for some friendly competition over bragging rights. Giveaways at the tables had goodie bags and temporary tattoo stickers. The food was also well-received by the student body. This included a mashed potato station with toppings, soft brownies, and lemonade. I believe every student who attended enjoyed themselves.

The costume contest found the judges making some difficult decisions. Among the contestants were some fairy princesses, a pair of Vampire slayers, Benny from The Sandlot, Jeff the Land Shark, and Cleveland from Family Guy. Cleveland came in third, the vampire

swordsman came in second, and the slayer queen took first place. The prizes for second and third place were the same: a stuffed panther plushie and a bag of candy. For first place, she took home a large-sized plushie and a holiday blanket!

I believe the detective work and community served PCCC students well, and it is safe to assume that Monster Mash will return. Man, I am still thinking about having a bit more time when it was my turn.
