"When a passion for helping others aligns with the potential for personal benefits." At Passaic County Community College, there is a group of dedicated students called Welcome Ambassadors, and there is a place for you and me. As one of these enthusiastic students, I was the first point of contact for prospective students. While helping my peers, I also received some benefits. Being a Welcome Ambassador is a unique opportunity to help others, develop skills, and connect. It is a perfect way to get involved with your college community.

From my experience, I love helping others, and becoming a Welcome Ambassador means assisting new students to transition to college. Providing peer support creates a welcoming atmosphere, setting the tone for the entire college experience. It helps students navigate

resources effectively, leading to better academic and social integration. The gratitude you receive is incredibly rewarding, knowing that you’ve helped make someone’s college first days more manageable.

This role also helps you develop interpersonal skills and communication. Volunteering provides an opportunity to build interpersonal relationships, potentially forming friendships and connections that can be helpful in the future. Additionally, you learn to stay patient and empathetic in various situations, which are invaluable skills in any career. It empowers problem-solving and leadership skills, encouraging others to get involved through example.

Beyond personal growth, being a Welcome Ambassador contributes to a stronger campus community, reinforcing my sense of belonging. You become part of a team dedicated to making PCCC more inclusive and welcoming for everyone. The friendships and connections you build with fellow Ambassadors are as fulfilling as the service: students who take the

opportunity to make their contribution, starting with little acts of solidarity.

I encourage every student to consider joining the program. It’s a powerful way to give back to your college, develop lifelong skills, and experience the joy of helping others. Who is willing to act? If you are, you can contribute to change by helping your classmates. Helping others is the most beautiful way to be alive. Take action and become a Welcome Ambassador!
