A Word on the Middle East:

Dear Panthers,

This is Sure Aygun, your Student Government Association President. I wanted to write about this issue because I know PCCC has a large Arab and Muslim student population, including myself, as well as students of Jewish faith.

No matter who or what you support, there has been so much loss of innocent civilian life that is unbearable to witness. For any students that have family in the area of conflict, I can’t imagine the pain and worry that must be taking over your hearts and minds.

I would like to urge you to reach out to your Representatives to express your views and ask them to represent you. A useful website I’ve been using is: www.contactmypolitician.com. Once on the site, enter your address and it will pull up your local Representatives. You can choose up to 10 Representatives at a time to send a mass email expressing your thoughts and stance on this conflict. The goal is to send our elected congressmen and congresswomen enough emails and calls that they will be more aware of the views of the citizens they are representing and take our voices into consideration when serving.

If you are able to, please consider donating to organizations like Save the Children and Doctors Without Borders, that are tirelessly working to help the affected civilians. Scan the QR codes below to donate.

Sincerely,

Sure Aygun

SGA President
