Oscar Valdez Shock’s the World in Win Against Miguel Berchelt

On Saturday night Oscar Valdez and Miguel Berchelt squared off at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas Nevada for the WBC Super Feather Weight World Title. This was a matchup of two Mexican fighters who were known for their knockout power. You just knew this fight was bound to end in a knockout.
Miguel Berchelt entered the bout with an overall record of 37-1 with 33 knockouts as the defending world champion. Oscar Valdez came in with a record of 28-0 with 22 knockouts. Previously a feather weight champion, Valdez was looking to steal the title from six time defender Berchelt.
The fight started out with both fighters landing hard shots at each other but Valdez was clearly more of the aggressor. Valdez scored a knockdown in the fourth, when the referee ruled that the ropes kept Berchelt up. Later in the ninth round, Valdez would knock Berchelt onto the canvas scoring another knockdown, before putting Berchelt down for the count in the tenth round.
Although we are just two months into the year, this is already on the watch list for being “knockout of the year.”
Up next for Valdez could be a fight with Newark New Jersey’s own Shakur Stevenson.
